Emerging Technology Trends

The world of 5G

When talking about the emerging technology trends, this, in our opinion, is the first trend to look forward to – The World Of 5G. Expected to be offered by 50 operators in around 30 countries by the end of 2021, 5G is going to change the way we used to do networking none more so than Augmented and Virtual Reality! 5G technology is designed to virtually connect as many devices as possible and boasts downloading an average HD video within three seconds! THREE SECONDS!

With the introduction of IoT applications and virtual reality-based software, more and more devices need to be connected. 5G technology achieves this by utilising a further frequency band of the electromagnetic spectrum between 30GHz and 300GHz, allowing effectively one thousand times more traffic than existing networks. As of now telecom giants like Verizon, Qualcomm have already started building the 5G infrastructure.

Internet of Things

Internet of Things (IoT) is the next technology we think you should keep an eye on. Probably the biggest beneficiary of 5G technology, IoT tends to connect all devices so that you are never offline. Having this rate of connection means control is at your fingertips. Whether it’s a household application for managing electronic appliances or commercial operations, IoT makes sure control is just a click away.

Before 5G, the rate of connectively would simply not be possible and users can expect even more improvements on IOT a lot sooner than we expected.

Distributed Cloud and Serverless Computing

Cloud computing is expected to grow significantly in the near future. This is because more and more companies are considering cloud offerings that are easier to manage and provide attractive pricing plans. It is also expected that more geographical locations shall be used to provide distributed cloud. The rise in IoT and the era of 5G will give rise to Distributed Cloud.

Another aspect of Cloud Computing that is capturing the attention of the developers is the Serverless computing offering. Serverless computing abstracts the application deployment and server management, so you only need to worry about development. Managing the server and underlying infrastructure is the job of the Cloud provider. Developers like it as they are saved from taking time aside for configuring the architecture. Keep the developers happy, eh!

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

Artificial Intelligence is the technology that is going to reshape the world we live in. You just name the business, and you will find AI playing its role. While AI has been around for quite a while now, its global role is expected to increase significantly. The AI market is expected to grow to 190 billion dollars by 2025.

We are already seeing the role of AI in our day-to-day lives, from Google Maps to Apple Siri assistance and shopping on Amazon. But this game will not stop here. As Cloud offerings are providing more options for Machine Learning Studio and Analytics with rising computing powers, more and more businesses and startups will leverage this computing power. More and more use cases shall be converted into AI such as voice recognition and voice synthesis.

AI and Machine Learning will have a huge impact on how different industries are reshaped, none more so that it’s projected impacts the health care and medicine industry, assisting in sensitive and critical surgeries and better diagnosis with minimal errors and efforts.

Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality

We’ve all heard about Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality, right?. These two technologies are going to continuously reshape our lives but wait, what is VR and AR exactly? These two terms are often spoken together and sometimes interchangeably.

Virtual Reality is the term used for the latest technology that creates a new environment to suit any specific industry. Perceived and seen via specially crafted devices called VR Heads, these gadgets create a whole new environment when worn. An artificially constructed environment consists of both images, videos, and sounds.

Augmented Reality on the other hand modifies artificially existing environments by placing/removing objects, altering colouring, and so on. Augmented Reality does not require a device(s) to be physically designed.

Investment in AR and VR is expected to reach 15.5 billion US dollars by 2022. So why this huge investment? Because VR and AR can revolutionise probably every industry the human mind is capable of thinking of. Be it eCommerce, Fashion Designing, Gaming, Healthcare, and so on. Having 5G means that more and more devices can come and contribute to the artificially crafted reality. Virtual Reality will be less science fiction and more common in the form of simple devices, readily available at ease, very soon.
